The Center for Applied Psychology (CAP) is an interdisciplinary organization housed within the TCU Psychology Department that promotes psychologically healthy individuals, families, and work groups by providing tools and assessments via programs in research, consulting, and training. The Center serves as an organizational structure for three independently developed programs. The Child Development Institute has a growing community presence and received VIA funding in 2005. The Cognitive Engineering Group is recognized nationally and internationally for its achievements in drug abuse treatment through its association with the Institute of Behavioral Research (IBR). This group has diversified by developing local and regional connections. The newly created Psychology of Leadership Program and associated minor intends to expand the use of psychological tools for values-based interaction and decision making in academic and training programs.
